Emotional Connection

It's hard, the feeling you get when you fail or the disappointment when you have high hopes and it doesn't turn out the way you expected. That is the feeling I got today when I set up a great special for Christmas photos and only had two families show up. I won't lie, there is an emotional connection when something doesn't go the way you think it would. Questions arise such as; Is my work not good enough?, Are my deals not worth it?, Do people look at the work I've done so far and judge me to others? It really can put a stress on the mind and feelings because you can't simply come out and ask 518 people why they didn't choose you, or why you weren't given a shot.

There is just one lesson I've learned through my whole experience so far as a photographer and that is to just keep your chin up and move on. Don't let things get to you because 1 - you're just starting out 2 - there are more advanced experienced photographers who are going to get the business until you can come out with something more extraordinary to get the public's eye and 3 - there are always going to be let downs but you can't take it to heart, this is not a field where an emotional connection can have a place. It's a competitive field and that is something I am still trying to conquer. I'm still fresh, no one knows my name, but by God by the time I'm done everyone will know who I am and the work I can dish out. I just wish people notice sooner than later.
